Fossil Clams (Mercenaria permagna)

From the Late Pliocene - Early Pleistocene (1-2 million years old) straight from Ruck's Pit, Ft Drum, Florida
We decided to part with some of our collection. These are Mercenaria clams, some of which are encased in a dark gray coquina/limestone matrix, some have calcite crystals and/or glow from a white to light yellowish green color under UV light and have a short-lived green phosphorescence and some have both. Authentic as I hand dug, cleaned and prepped them. The photographs were taken under natural light and what you see is what you get.
 
These clams are well known by fossil collector’s all over the world. This would make a great one of a kind gift for anyone who is a fossil lover and who may never had the opportunity to hunt Ruck’s Pit when it was open. We also have some,  which are set with bases for use as a paperweight or for display purposes. Aside from that, how many people can say they have a piece of Florida’s ancient sea? If you purchase one then you can say “I do”! It also makes for a great conversation piece.
